Platform 2 Success (e2e)

This is a very exciting time for us here at Platform to Success – our tier 1 E2E course - as we make the change from being a project aimed at simply engaging young people in training to a qualification-based project, offering a Personal and Social Development award - including a Preparation for Work module - alongside Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT. (We can offer 1:1 tutoring in maths and English.) Other opportunities will include Health and Safety training, and work towards a volunteering certificate.

Students also get chance to experience a work environment based at one of the other projects within the National Children’s Centre – this might be in retail, reception work, acting as a driver’s mate or working in the Brian Jackson House café.

But it’s not all hard work! - we also have regular sessions at the youth club, organise outings, enjoy talks given by visitors and arrange the occasional treat. Anyone for bowling?

Something we pride ourselves on is the pastoral support we offer students, many of whom are dealing at a young age with homelessness, drink and drug problems, family breakdown and other issues. We refer students, when appropriate, to anger management, counselling and a variety of local support agencies.
Students tell us they appreciate the fact that Platform has small groups and they have chance to build up good relationships with staff and other students.

We help each student to find the course which will be best for them after Platform to Success. Most students move on to a further (tier 2) E2E course or to college, depending on their chosen career path. Students moving on to a tier 2 will have the opportunity to spend at least a couple of days at their next training provider in advance of the move so the transition is as smooth and painless as possible!
