Brian Jackson House Development
Over the last few years we have been developing and refurbishing
Brian Jackson House, a massive 2500 m2
converted railway goods warehouse beside the railway interchange at the
heart of Huddersfield's town centre. We had many meetings with
different organisations looking at the access and facilities to the
building, all these points have been looked at by our architect’s. The
Trustees and Management Team were in agreement that Brian Jackson House
now conforms to Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
The
NCC not only provides direct services to children and young people but
also supports a host of other agencies working for young people and
families. Many of these groups are tenants at Brian Jackson House
The building has good
access to the bus and railway stations. Over the last few years
different contractors along with our own work force have been working
hard putting in new stairways and a lift, forming new offices and space
that will be a place that children & young people will want to be in.
As you can see from the photographs below, we have come a long way from
the builders making a start to the refurbishment in 2003, to the opening
of the basement space in November 2005. then the Café Jaxx in September
2007.
Although the NCC has supported children and young people for 25 years,
we are still seeking continuous improvement and
future building developments and partnerships will ensure NCC reaches
it’s full potential in serving this community.
