Since devising the concept of the delivery, it was clear to the New Beginnings team that we should consult with our Young people to ensure we created and delivered a range of activities that appealed to them and engaged them rather than staff assuming what they wanted.

Our Aim
Our short term brief is to engage young People using the arts as a vehicle; dance, song, movement, theatre, film, and creative arts.

What we do
We allow the Young People to develop independent living skills, drugs awareness, citizenship, self esteem, anger management, positive relationship skills and healthy living.

How we deliver
We use theatre, live performance and role play to give an interpretation on the students own life experiences.

It gives them an opportunity to express themselves and witness real, tangible feelings and emotions of others instilling a sense of empathy. Our special effects work gives an opportunity to become someone else, a chance to ‘walk a day in someone else’s shoes’, encouraging an awareness of citizenship and challenges long held prejudices.

Our Rapping workshop gives our young people the opportunity to develop literacy skills. It build confidence and gives an outlet for the expression of their feelings in a current and topical way.

Long Term Goals
We focus a great deal on positive progression, be it employment, training or education. This is always sign-posted and celebrated. We pride ourselves on the long term support we give our Young people. We maintain contact with past students and encourage them to stay in touch, this allows us to track their sucesses beyond the initial steps they take. We hope that this perpetuates a sense of continuity and wrap around support to both our past & present students, giving a clear indication that every child matters to us.

Why New Beginnings?

We pride ourselves on an innovative and creative delivery, constantly adapting to the dynamic of the current group of attendees, so that the teaching is customised for the Young people it is intended to reach.
