Reparation
Reparation is a partnership scheme run by National Children's
Centre and The Youth Offending Team. The provision is targeted at young offenders
aged 10-17 years old, who are experimenting in areas of crime.
After appearing in the courts, young people can then be given Reparation orders
ranging from two to twenty hours from a panel of community volunteers.
The ethos of this provision is to influence a change in the beliefs of these young
people and to persuade them against re-offending through teaching social and practical
skills such as; painting and decorating, woodwork and basic skills. Reparation
endeavours to affect the young people to avoid the cycle of offending young people
can be drawn into. This occurs in a positive way and hopes to encourage a change
of attitude towards parents and peers.
