School uniform grants across the UK have been cut, leaving many families without help. National Children’s Centre are pleased to support the Uniform Exchange programme across Huddersfield.

Uniform Exchange was established by a group of Huddersfield mums in response to the ‘Poor kids’ documentary shown on BBC1 on Tuesday 7th June 2011.  In a matter of weeks, and with the support of The National Children's Centre, Kirklees Council and a number of other volunteer mums, the group set up and promoted Uniform Exchange to local schools and Children’s Centres within the Huddersfield area.

How can you help?

Uniform Exchange need donations of second hand School Uniforms –
shoes, t-shirts, dresses, coats, jumpers, shirts, trousers, skirts, trainers and shorts.

Damaged items that are beyond repair will be sold as rags to raise funds towards the project.

If you want to donate, please drop your unwanted uniforms at your local primary school, Surestart Children’s Centre or at the National Children's Centre at Brian Jackson house, where we will arrange to collect them. Everything collected will be cleaned, repaired and ironed before distribution.

You can also help by encouraging your school to get involved, be a collection point for the uniforms and put up posters around the school. Download your Uniform Exchange poster here
